Customer Service role

The Company

Midland Aerospace has an exciting new opportunity within a long established manufacturing organisation, using a variety of Machining and Fabrication processes to manufacture their products from our modern purpose built facility located in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

We supply components into the civil and military Aerospace and Defence industry sectors, and have a vision to develop these and wider markets making the working environment fascinating and challenging.

A requirement has now arisen for an experienced Customer Service team member to work in a newly structured team who’s responsibility will be focused solely on servicing our customers and acting as the central conduit to our internal departments and processes.

Roles and Responsibilities

This position will be a new addition to the existing 4 other team members who will collectively report to the Operations Director, this function will be critical to the success of Midland’s growth aspirations and will contribute directly to the Company’s performance. Duties to include but not exhaustive: -

  • Face to face and/or telephone liaison with customers dealing with queries and acting as a communication focal point.
  • Responding to customer queries.
  • Processing and progressing customer orders from placement to delivery.
  • Able to communicate at all levels.
  • Ensuring that customer orders are delivered on time to the applicable service levels; delivery dates and customer expectations are satisfied or exceeded.
  • Thorough contact review is completed for all orders and that all issues are resolved before planning is issued to production.
  • Working with the Production, Engineering and Quality Departments, providing full support to the Directors delivering customer demands.
  • Ensure as part of a cross functional team we adopt appropriate and efficient practices: reviewing and influencing local processes to reduce waste, improve efficiency and establish a dynamic and flexible best in class capability.
  • Fostering a quality right first time ethos throughout the business as well as promoting safe working practices at all times, addressing issues found immediately.
  • Ability to build and maintain a health pipeline of sales and supporting the sale function of the business.

Person Specification

  • Must have prior experience in a customer services office environment.
  • Previous experience within an engineering /manufacturing industry a distinct advantage
  • Confident friendly telephone manner
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good IT skills and excellent knowledge of spreadsheets -Excel/Word/Outlook etc
  • Knowledge of business systems (Sage or equivalent advantageous).
  • Microsoft project (or similar) experience would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Technical competence, eye for detail, analytical thinking, commercial awareness and customer facing.
  • Excellent communicator with good organisation and co-ordination skills.
  • Creative thinker with a 'can do' attitude

CNC Machinist (XYZ)

The Company

Midland Aerospace has an exciting new opportunity within a long established manufacturing organisation, using a variety of Machining and Fabrication processes to manufacture their products from our modern purpose built facility located in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

We supply components into the civil and military Aerospace and Defence industry sectors, and have a vision to develop these and wider markets making the working environment fascinating and challenging.

A requirement has now arisen for an experienced CNC Machinist to join the Company.

Roles and Responsibilities

This position reports directly to the 3 Axis Team Leader, residing within the Manufacturing Supervisor’s area of responsibility within the operations team.

  • Experience of running XYZ CNC machines.
  • Setting and operating machine types (Spindle probing, Datum setting, key characteristics and G, D&T, tool offsetting, program selection/saving).
  • Reading 2D engineering drawings.
  • Recording productive time on manufacturing systems and managing Route Cards.
  • Involvement in team activities such as 5S, TPM, SQDCP board discussions, OEE and other improvement activities.
  • Promoting and maintaining a safe work environment and practices.
  • Self-inspection of parts produced, resolving Non-Conformance (NCR) issues.
  • Experienced use of standard measuring systems and methodologies.
  • 39 hour working week with an early finish on Friday (5 hours).

Qualifications

  • The Ideal candidate will have an academic background if possible with NVQ level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Requires time served on programming / setting & operating 3 Axis machines.

Person Specification

  • Industry experience - Aerospace (ideal), Nuclear, Medical or Automotive (high end), Motorsport: all with high tolerances (+/-0.01mm, Airbus SO4 and S104 stds).
  • Working to AS9100 / EASA Part 21 (G) standards (ideal).
  • Must have good team working skills coupled with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. 
  • Flexible and forward thinker with a 'can do' attitude.

3 Axis CNC Setter / Operator

The Company

Midland Aerospace has an exciting new opportunity within a long established manufacturing organisation, using a variety of Machining and Fabrication processes to manufacture their products from our modern purpose built facility located in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

We supply components into the civil and military Aerospace and Defence industry sectors, and have a vision to develop these and wider markets making the working environment fascinating and challenging.

A requirement has now arisen for an experienced 3 Axis CNC Setter/Operator to join the Company.

Roles and Responsibilities

This position reports directly to the 3 Axis Team Leader, residing within the Manufacturing Supervisor’s area of responsibility within the operations team.

  • Experience of running HAAS, DMG (mainly) & Hermle machines – to cover multiple programs & product spread.
  • Experience of working multiple machines.
  • Setting and operating above machine types (Spindle probing, Datum setting, key characteristics and G,D&T, tool offsetting, program selection/saving, Balluff handling).
  • Reading 2D engineering drawings.
  • Recording productive time on manufacturing systems and managing Route Cards.
  • Involvement in team activities such as 5S, TPM, SQDCP board discussions, OEE and other improvement activities.
  • Promoting and maintaining a safe work environment and practices.
  • Self-inspection of parts produced, resolving Non-Conformance (NCR) issues.
  • Experienced use of standard measuring systems and methodologies.
  • 39 hour working week with an early finish on Friday (5 hours).

Qualifications

5 Axis CNC Programmer

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Midland Aerospace has an exciting new opportunity within a long-established manufacturing organisation using a variety of Machining and Fabrication processes to manufacture their products from our modern purpose-built facility located in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

We supply components into the civil and military Aerospace and Defence industry sectors, and have a vision to develop these and wider markets making the working environment fascinating and challenging.

A requirement has now arisen for an experienced 5 Axis CNC Programmer to join the Company.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager.

  • Strong background in programming complex 5 Axis details in hard and soft metals
  • At least 2 – 3 years experience of CNC Machine 5 Axis offline programming
  • Experience in CNC Mill Turn is desirable
  • The successful candidate will ideally have minimum 2 years of experience of using OPENMIND CadCam Software. Other industry standard softwares would also be considered such as MasterCAM, CatiaV4/V5 and Delcam.
  • 39 hour working week (Mon – Thurs 7.30am to 4.30pm, Friday 7.30 – 12.30pm)

Qualifications

  • The Ideal candidate will have an academic background if possible with NVQ level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Requires time served on programming 5 Axis machines.

CNC Turner Multi Axis

Reports to: Team Leader

The Company

Midland Aerospace has an exciting new opportunity within a long established manufacturing organisation, using a variety of Machining and Fabrication processes to manufacture their products from our modern purpose built facility located in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

We supply components into the civil and military Aerospace and Defence industry sectors, and have a vision to develop these and wider markets making the working environment fascinating and challenging.

A requirement has now arisen for an experienced CNC Multi Axis Turner to join the Company.

Duties and responsibilities

This position reports directly to the CNC Turning Team Leader, residing within the Manufacturing Supervisor’s area of responsibility within the operations team.

  • Experience of running DMG Mori multi axis lathes, Siemens/Fanuc controls.
  • Setting and operating machine types (Spindle probing, Datum setting, key characteristics and G, D&T, tool offsetting, program selection/saving).
  • Reading 2/3D engineering drawings.
  • Recording productive time on manufacturing systems and managing Route Cards.
  • Involvement in team activities such as 5S, TPM, SQDCP board discussions, OEE and other improvement activities.
  • Promoting and maintaining a safe work environment and practices.
  • Self-inspection of parts produced, resolving Non-Conformance (NCR) issues.
  • Experienced use of standard measuring systems and methodologies.
  • 39 hour working week with an early finish on Friday (5 hours).

A requirement has now arisen for an experienced 4/5 Axis Machinist to join the Company.

Duties and responsibilities

This position reports directly to the Machine Shop Team Leader, residing within the Manufacturing Supervisor’s area of responsibility within the operations team.

  • Experience of running HAAS, DMG (mainly) & Hermle machines – to cover multiple programs & product spread.
  • Experience of working multiple machines.
  • Setting and operating above machine types (Spindle probing, Datum setting, key characteristics and G,D&T, tool offsetting, program selection/saving, Balluff handling).
