Team Leader

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Job Purpose

The primary function of this position is to assign tasks, lead and motivate their team ensuring they are efficient, productive and are complying with the expected company standards. They will report directly to the Production Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

The primary job duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to:

  • Provide leadership to their team
  • Create and develop Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions
  • Train operators
  • Motivate the team
  • Responsible for quality of their team
  • Responsible for problem solving
  • Ensuring safe working practices are adhered to
  • Ensure the correct work ethic is always being applied
  • Assigning tasks to team members
  • Giving them specific directions and procedures to follow
  • Monitor work progress of the team and individuals
  • Measure performance
  • Complete NCR investigations and manage NCR database
  • Be skilled at their workplace tasks
  • Able to mentor their sub-ordinates
  • Develop continuous improvement projects using lean toolbox techniques
  • Responsible for ensuring TPM & 5S schedules are adhered to
  • Responsible for ensuring OEE measures are being conducted and improvement action plans are implemented
  • Work with Production Supervisor to coordinate work scheduling in their area
  • Work with Production Supervisor to coordinate Capacity Planning

Qualifications

The minimum expected qualifications required to successfully perform the job are:

  • ONC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering
  • Good skills and experience operating 3, 4 & 5 axis CNC Machines
  • Good knowledge of datum structures, key characteristics and G,D&T
  • Experienced use of standard measuring systems and methodologies
  • Must have a ‘Can-Do’ attitude
  • Experienced use of problem solving techniques
  • Good IT skills

Working conditions

The job requires a person to be “hands on” in their role. Working amongst their peers but take the lead in all aspects of the job. Although the position is proposed as a day shift role the candidate may from time to time be required to work a reasonable amount of overtime including when the business requires it to work a night shift or weekend shift.

Physical requirements

The job is not deemed physically demanding although periodic health assessments may need to be performed as necessary.

Direct reports

The relevant cell operators will report to this position. The position will be responsible for the management of discipline procedures within their team and act as a focal point for performance management and development in conjunction with the Production Supervisor

NDT Technician Level 2

Reports to: Quality Manager

The Company

Midland Aerospace has an exciting new opportunity within a long-established manufacturing organisation, using a variety of Machining and Fabrication processes to manufacture their products from our modern purpose-built facility located in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

We supply components into the civil and military Aerospace and Defence industry sectors, and have a vision to develop these and wider markets making the working environment fascinating and challenging.

We require a dedicated NDT Technician who enjoys working in a fast paced environment proactive and enjoys a variety of task and ability to take ownership of their ledger.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Pfd operator to en41079 nas410 standard
  • Daily maintance of pfd line
  • Manage daily checks
  • Work to nadcap standards
  • Works with minimal supervision while demonstrating problem solving skills.
  • Participates in meetings as members of cross- functional teams/task groups to maintain inspection quality and throughput efficiencies.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Industry experience - Aerospace (ideal), Nuclear, Medical or Automotive (high end), Motorsport: all with high tolerances (+/-0.01mm, Airbus SO4 and S104 stds).
  • Working to AS9100 / EASA Part 21 (G) standards (ideal).
  • Must have good team working skills coupled with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.

3 Axis CNC Setter / Operator

The Company

Midland Aerospace has an exciting new opportunity within a long established manufacturing organisation, using a variety of Machining and Fabrication processes to manufacture their products from our modern purpose built facility located in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

We supply components into the civil and military Aerospace and Defence industry sectors, and have a vision to develop these and wider markets making the working environment fascinating and challenging.

A requirement has now arisen for an experienced 3 Axis CNC Setter/Operator to join the Company.

Roles and Responsibilities

This position reports directly to the 3 Axis Team Leader, residing within the Manufacturing Supervisor’s area of responsibility within the operations team.

  • Experience of running HAAS, DMG (mainly) & Hermle machines – to cover multiple programs & product spread.
  • Experience of working multiple machines.
  • Setting and operating above machine types (Spindle probing, Datum setting, key characteristics and G,D&T, tool offsetting, program selection/saving, Balluff handling).
  • Reading 2D engineering drawings.
  • Recording productive time on manufacturing systems and managing Route Cards.
  • Involvement in team activities such as 5S, TPM, SQDCP board discussions, OEE and other improvement activities.
  • Promoting and maintaining a safe work environment and practices.
  • Self-inspection of parts produced, resolving Non-Conformance (NCR) issues.
  • Experienced use of standard measuring systems and methodologies.
  • 39 hour working week with an early finish on Friday (5 hours).

Qualifications

  • The Ideal candidate will have an academic background if possible with NVQ level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Requires time served on programming / editing via Haas control systems (Fanuc or Mazak will also be considered).

5 Axis CNC Programmer

Reports to: Engineering Manager

We supply components into the civil and military Aerospace and Defence industry sectors, and have a vision to develop these and wider markets making the working environment fascinating and challenging.

A requirement has now arisen for an experienced 5 Axis CNC Programmer to join the Company.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager.

  • Strong background in programming complex 5 Axis details in hard and soft metals
  • At least 2 – 3 years experience of CNC Machine 5 Axis offline programming
  • Experience in CNC Mill Turn is desirable
  • The successful candidate will ideally have minimum 2 years of experience of using OPENMIND CadCam Software. Other industry standard softwares would also be considered such as MasterCAM, CatiaV4/V5 and Delcam.
  • 39 hour working week (Mon – Thurs 7.30am to 4.30pm, Friday 7.30 – 12.30pm)

Qualifications

  • The Ideal candidate will have an academic background if possible with NVQ level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Requires time served on programming 5 Axis machines.

CNC Turner Multi Axis

Reports to: Team Leader

The Company

Midland Aerospace has an exciting new opportunity within a long established manufacturing organisation, using a variety of Machining and Fabrication processes to manufacture their products from our modern purpose built facility located in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

We supply components into the civil and military Aerospace and Defence industry sectors, and have a vision to develop these and wider markets making the working environment fascinating and challenging.

A requirement has now arisen for an experienced CNC Multi Axis Turner to join the Company.

Duties and responsibilities

This position reports directly to the CNC Turning Team Leader, residing within the Manufacturing Supervisor’s area of responsibility within the operations team.

  • Experience of running DMG Mori multi axis lathes, Siemens/Fanuc controls.
  • Setting and operating machine types (Spindle probing, Datum setting, key characteristics and G, D&T, tool offsetting, program selection/saving).
  • Reading 2/3D engineering drawings.
  • Recording productive time on manufacturing systems and managing Route Cards.
  • Involvement in team activities such as 5S, TPM, SQDCP board discussions, OEE and other improvement activities.
  • Promoting and maintaining a safe work environment and practices.
  • Self-inspection of parts produced, resolving Non-Conformance (NCR) issues.
  • Experienced use of standard measuring systems and methodologies.
  • 39 hour working week with an early finish on Friday (5 hours).

Qualifications

  • The Ideal candidate will have an academic background if possible with NVQ level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering.

Duties and responsibilities

This position reports directly to the Machine Shop Team Leader, residing within the Manufacturing Supervisor’s area of responsibility within the operations team.

  • Experience of running HAAS, DMG (mainly) & Hermle machines – to cover multiple programs & product spread.
  • Experience of working multiple machines.
